After extensive research and community input, Broken Arrow Public Schools has finalized a hybrid instructional calendar that maintains a five-day school week rather than transitioning to a four-day schedule for the next two school years. The proposed calendars were presented to the Board of Education for review and approval at its Feb. 10 meeting.
Key Highlights:
Change in Pre-K drop off and pick up times
Early Childhood Centers – Drop off is between 8 a.m. and 8:25 a.m.; Pick up is between 2:10 p.m. and 2:35 p.m.
Solo Pre-K Sites – Drop off is between 8:20 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.; Pick up is between 2:45 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. These times may vary slightly at each site.
Earlier release times for elementary students; modified times for secondary
Elementary Start – 8:45 a.m.; Elementary End – 3:30 p.m.
Middle School Start – 8:15 a.m.; Middle School End – 3 p.m.
High School Start – 7:45 a.m.; High School End – 2:30 p.m.
Additional breaks in the second semester to support student and staff mental health
A fixed end date to provide families with greater predictability
Fewer distance learning days, reduced from eight to six
If inclement weather results in school closures, designated snow days will be used consecutively and treated as regular school days to make up for missed time.
Note: The above calendars will be revised after the Board meeting in March to reflect the 12-month district holiday schedule.
