Last school year, Leisure Park Elementary started Unified Champions with a goal of increasing inclusion of students with special needs in daily school activities. Each student has been assigned a peer partner, and once a month, the peers partner up to plan fun activities!
The impact of this program? There is one second grader who spent most of recess talking to the teacher on duty. Since they started Unified Champions, she looks for her buddy (and vice versa) every single day on the playground!
