One of our goals at Creekwood Elementary is to help provide a positive and successful school experience for our students. Some of the counseling duties include counseling individual students as needed, counseling small groups of children with similar concerns (social skills, divorce, anger management etc.), consulting with teachers and assisting them in meeting individual student's needs as well as coordinating referrals to school and community agencies and meeting with parents.
Guidance services are available to all parents/guardians and their children. Please feel free to the counseling office 918-259-4500 if you have a concern or a question.
Visit district's webpage for parent resources.
The following suggestions might help your child get off on the right track, establish strong work habits early, and assure a great school experience.
At Home
Provide a quiet study area at home. In order to minimize distractions, keep it supplied with pencils, paper, dictionary, crayons, and other common school materials. Keep a calendar dedicated to school related dates. A timer can be helpful as well. Your child will benefit from a regular study schedule.
For School
Every child enjoys beginning the year with a fresh supply of school materials. Please be sure to send required items with your student as soon as possible. As the year progresses, it will be helpful to refresh used items. Most students find it useful to carry a small backpack to contain books and other information that must be used both at home and school. They take pride in having the correct items. Arriving in class with the necessary equipment contributes to academic success and creates responsible work habits.
Information or Concerns
When questions or concerns arise during the course of the school year, please contact your child’s teacher first. Most times, the teacher will have the information you need. If not, the school counselor or the principal is available to assist you.
